Chadwell Heath has become increasingly popular with families in recent years. As house prices in central London have risen exponentially, those with growing households have realised the benefits of moving outside of the congestion of inner London and have flocked towards the Greater London / Essex borders. RM6 ticks all the boxes for families.

There is plenty of greenspace for little ones with around 35 parks in the London Borough of Redbridge. Chadwell Heath properties are also incredibly affordable in comparison to other London areas. However, the secret is pretty much out and demand is now high in the area. Therefore, families who are considering the move should get here early in order to ensure that they are registered within catchment for some of the best rated schools in RM6.

Popular Primary Schools in Chadwell Heath

Grove Primary School (pictured above) on Chadwell Heath Lane is a mixed community school from ages 3-11 and has an Ofsted Rating of 2: Good. It shares average scores in Reading and Writing in comparison to other schools in England; however, it is above average in Maths.

St Bede’s Catholic School on Canon Avenue is a voluntary aided school for primary aged children. Its recent Ofsted inspection in February 2015 categorised it as 1: Outstanding. It is above average in its Maths scores, and average in Reading and Writing. However, 15% of pupils at St Bede’s are achieving at a higher standard than the norm.

Barley Lane Primary School on Huxley Drive received a 2: Good Ofsted grading when it was inspected in April 2016. It’s a large school of around 840 pupils and many are from a wide range of minority ethnic backgrounds. It has average scores in comparison to school children achievements across the rest of England.

If you wish to apply for a primary school place in Chadwell Heath, you will need to visit the Redbridge Primary Schools Admission site and the deadline will be mid-January in advance of the September intake for the year.

Secondary Schools in Chadwell Heath

Chadwell Heath Academy in Christie Gardens is a mixed Foundation Stage School with an Ofsted rating of 1: Outstanding. 68% of pupils achieve at least 5 GCSEs with grades between A* and C, while 78% receive at least a grade C in Maths and English.

The Warren School in Whalebone Lane was previously known as the Warren Comprehensive School. The school is in the national average category for its achievements, and 61% of pupils received grades A* to C in their English and Maths GCSEs. 70% of pupils attained at least 5 A* to C grades, and 13% gained the EBacc qualification.

Independent Schools

If you’re looking to send your children to private school, then there are a number of preparatory schools in the surrounding area. Eastcourt Independent School is located in Goodmayes, IG3 and boasts excellent 11+ results. The pre-school, The Oaks is able to take children from the age of 2.

Just down the road from Eastcourt, is the Ilford Preparatory school. Their latest results show that 85.7% of pupils achieved 5+ A* to C GCSEs and all of these included English and Maths. 71.4% achieved the English Baccalaureate.
